Victor Braunig Lake is a reservoir located on Calaveras Creek and Chupaderas Creek south of San Antonio, Texas. The reservoir was formerly known as East Lake. In 1962 the construction of the dam began, it provides a cooling pond for the power plant to supply additional electrical to the city of San Antonio. The dam and lake are managed by CPS Energy of San Antonio. Braunig Lake also serves as a venue for recreation, including fishing, camping, and boating. Braunig Lake has been stocked with multiple species of fish, including red drum, hybrid striped bass, catfish, and largemouth bass. Thousand Trails Management Services manages a public park at the lake. The park features facilities for camping, hiking, picknicking, fishing, and boating.
